New release roundup – Simon Lynge / Mark Harrison / Tupelo /Moonshot

‘Deep Snow, the brand new album by Simon Lynge, is out world-wide on 23rd November via Integrity Records/Songcrafter Music.

In February 2018, Simon and long-time friend and musical collaborator Richard Lobb isolated themselves in a secluded house owned by a travelling circus clown in the green hills of Trallong, Wales, to record the Greenlandic-Danish songwriter’s new album, later to be caressed to completion in the eclectic atmosphere of Narcissus Studios in London

“I had sworn to myself that this album would truly reflect my soul, rather than attempt to uplift it. It feels like growing up. I cannot pretend to be something I am not; life is too short.  The new album is called Deep Snow, because my body feels colder when it is sad and the smallest task can only be achieved through extreme effort.”

Having spent his early years as a shepherd boy in the Greenland tundra, nature and the fragility of life in all its forms feature heavily in Simon’s songs.

Now dividing his time between America’s Pacific Northwest, Scandinavia & the UK, Simon Lynge is no stranger to the British media, having appeared on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio London, BBC1 Breakfast TV & Sky News and had great reviews of previous releases from the UK & European press.

The Panoramic View is the brand new album from Mark Harrison.

An artist described by R2 Rock n Reel Magazine as ‘Roots music from the top drawer from one of our most gifted talents‘ . Radio 2’s Paul Jones simply said “Really excellent.” Classic Rock Magazine said about the album “…a quirky album that makes a great case for self releasing”.

There is no one in music quite like Mark Harrison. With his band, or in solo or duo form, he is widely considered one of the most remarkable artists currently operating in the UK.

His highly individual, all-original music goes down very well with audiences of all kinds, and it has taken him and the band to some of the top venues and festivals in the UK, attracting acclaim wherever he goes. Described at BBC Radio 2 as ‘quirky’ and an artist who ‘makes you think afresh’, and by one eminent reviewer as ‘approaching national treasure status’, Mark is a unique songwriter, a stunning guitarist, and a master storyteller. An in-demand live performer, Mark tours extensively. He has appeared at top festivals such as Celtic Connections, Bearded Theory, The Great British Folk Festival, Lakefest and Jazz FM Love Supreme, and at prestigious venues all over the UK. He has released five albums which have been unanimously acclaimed across a wide range of areas of the music world, receiving a very great deal of airplay and highly enthusiastic reviews in the UK, Europe and the US.

2018 sees the release of Mark’s much awaited new album, THE PANORAMIC VIEW. Marks’ magnum opus, it is all set to bring him much wider recognition. THE PANORAMIC VIEW features 15 original songs in his trademark style. Mark is a songster, and his songs cover all manner of non-standard subjects. With catchy tunes, lyrics that intrigue and engage, and striking rhythms, they make you smile, think and move. He takes elements of roots music, including folk, blues and gospel, to create something new that is very much his own genre. Each song is a snapshot of life or has a story to tell, like a 3-minute film or novel. On THE PANORAMIC VIEW, Mark, on National & 12-string guitars and vocals, is joined by a cast of A-List musicians in a wide variety of line-ups. At the core is his regular band of Charles Benfield (double bass) and Ben Welburn (drums and percussion), and they are joined by the superlative Paddy Milner (piano), Paul Tkachenko (tuba, trombone, trumpet, mandolin) and Ed Hopwood (harmonica). A unique feature of the album is the spoken introduction for each song by TV presenter and personality Gail Porter. Superbly produced by Tim Bazell of Heart of Gold Studios in London, THE PANORAMIC VIEW (release date 7 September 2018) and as with Mark’s previous albums, it is beautifully packaged, with superb artwork by We Are Frank.

Really excellent … he takes very real things, normal things that happen in life, and he writes about them in a way that makes you think afresh about them’ (Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2)

‘One of the British Isles’ great blues singers and guitarists …. totally and absolutely original’ (Mike Harding)

‘Wonderful rootsy blues ….. innovative’ (Jazz FM)

‘Singular lyrics …an original take on song writing’ (Blues in Britain)

‘Mark Harrison has been creating something of a stir …. bringing a modern outlook to a traditional style, he is building a loyal and wide fan base.’ (Blues Matters)

‘Mark Harrison keeps getting better‘ (Classic Rock Magazine)
